Terms governing your use of SciFigureAI

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SciFigureAI, including scifigureai.com, account features, AI scientific figure generation, projects, generated assets, subscriptions, credit packages, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for your account, password, API keys, and all activity under your account. You must promptly tell us if you believe your account or API keys have been compromised.
We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create security risk, abuse the Services, or create legal or operational risk for SciFigureAI.
SciFigureAI helps users create scientific figure drafts, graphical abstracts, mechanism diagrams, protocol workflows, and related visual materials from text inputs and generation settings. The Services may include prompt processing, figure planning, image generation, project history, selected assets, exports, watermarks, usage limits, subscriptions, and credit-based generation.
We may add, remove, change, limit, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee that any generated output will meet publication, journal, conference, regulatory, accessibility, accuracy, or formatting requirements.
"User Content" means research descriptions, abstracts, prompts, required elements, project settings, uploaded or submitted materials, generated figure specifications, feedback, and other content you provide to or create through the Services.
You retain rights you have in your User Content. By submitting User Content, you grant SciFigureAI a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, reproduce, modify, display, transmit, and create derivative works from that content solely as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the Services.
You represent that you have all rights, licenses, permissions, and consents needed to submit User Content and use it with the Services. You are responsible for ensuring your User Content does not violate law, contracts, confidentiality obligations, publication policies, institutional policies, or third-party rights.
Do not submit confidential, sensitive, regulated, protected health, patient, trade secret, export-controlled, classified, or third-party data unless you have the legal right and required permissions to process it through SciFigureAI and its service providers.
The Services use automated systems and third-party AI services. AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, biased, visually flawed, or scientifically inappropriate. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and validating all outputs before using them in manuscripts, posters, grant applications, presentations, teaching materials, clinical contexts, commercial materials, or any other setting.
SciFigureAI does not provide scientific, medical, legal, regulatory, publishing, or professional advice. Outputs are drafts and should not be treated as verified facts, experimental results, citations, clinical guidance, or publication-ready materials without independent review.
Paid features may be offered through subscriptions, one-time purchases, credit packages, trials, promotions, or other plans. Prices, included credits, limits, expiration periods, and features are shown in the product or checkout flow and may change over time.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing a paid plan or credit package, you authorize SciFigureAI and Stripe to process the transaction and related billing information.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date. Canceling a subscription stops future renewals but does not automatically refund past charges. Access may continue until the end of the then-current billing period unless otherwise stated.
Credits are a limited, revocable license to use eligible SciFigureAI features. Credits have no cash value, are not a stored value account, are not legal tender, are not transferable, and may expire or be removed according to the applicable plan, package, promotion, or abuse-prevention rules. We may correct credit balances or transactions if we detect error, fraud, misuse, duplicate processing, or chargeback activity.
Refunds, if any, are handled according to the checkout terms, applicable law, and the policies we apply at the time of the request.
SciFigureAI, the website, software, templates, user interface, workflows, documentation, branding, and related content are owned by SciFigureAI or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for rights expressly granted in these Terms, we reserve all rights in the Services.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Services for your research, education, presentation, publishing, or business workflows.
To the extent permitted by applicable law and subject to these Terms, you may use generated outputs for lawful purposes. You are responsible for confirming that your use of an output does not infringe third-party rights, violate journal or institutional policies, misrepresent research findings, or breach applicable law.
Because AI systems may produce similar or identical outputs for different users, we do not guarantee exclusivity in generated outputs.

The Services rely on third-party providers for functions such as payment processing, email, storage, authentication, AI generation, analytics, support, security, notifications, and affiliate attribution. These services may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies. SciFigureAI is not responsible for third-party services, outages, errors, data practices, or changes outside our control.

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services if you violate these Terms, fail to pay amounts due, create legal or security risk, misuse credits or promotions, or if we discontinue the Services.
Termination may result in loss of access to your account, projects, generated assets, credits, API keys, and related data, subject to any retention required by law or legitimate operational needs.
The Services and all outputs are provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SciFigureAI disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, reliability, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
We do not warrant that the Services will meet your requirements, that outputs will be accurate or suitable for publication, that defects will be corrected, or that the Services will be free of harmful components.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SciFigureAI will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, loss of goodwill, research delays, publication rejection, or business interruption arising from or related to the Services or these Terms.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SciFigureAI's total liability for all claims related to the Services or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid to SciFigureAI for the Services giving rise to the claim during the three months before the event giving rise to liability, or USD 100 if you have not paid us.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SciFigureAI from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses arising from your User Content, your use of outputs, your violation of these Terms, your violation of applicable law, or your infringement of third-party rights.
These Terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be handled in the courts or forums that have proper jurisdiction under applicable law, unless a mandatory law requires otherwise.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the date above and post the revised Terms on this page. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice as appropriate. Your continued use of the Services after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
